Cool summer – cooler music!

The summer may be turning out a bit of a disappointment, but if you’re looking for a bright spot on the horizon, how about some great saxophone music, courtesy of Saxofonie? We’re busy putting the final touches on our programme for Wakefield Cathedral on Tuesday 30 July, which is going to be another wonderful mix of old, new, jazz, classical, folk, pop and more – in fact, the usual Saxofonie magical medley!  We’re delighted to have Freya White joining us on tenor for this performance, which starts at 1 pm sharp. Free entry, with a retiring collection in aid of cathedral funds. We hope you can join us!

Back in the swing…

Brilliant to be back rehearsing again today after a few months’ hiatus.  We’re starting to get a programme together for a return to Wakefield Cathedral in July, and are delighted to welcome Becky, who will be playing tenor with us.  The setlist is shaping up well already, with some great new material alongside a few old favourites: we’re looking forward to sharing it all with an audience!

To get you in the mood, how about a reminder of this gem from last year’s festive video highlights?

Coronavirus – pluses and minuses…

Sadly, it’s looking increasingly likely that our scheduled concert on Saturday 2 May 2020 at Howden Minster will need to be postponed as a result of the ongoing coronavirus epidemic, since even if the lockdown restrictions have been lifted by then, we won’t have been able to rehearse together for several months, so won’t be in a position to give the top quality performance we want to offer to our audience.
